Recently caused issue (for me) with 'position' keyframing - How do I fix this?

I'm not sure what caused this and have not found much about this - but this has only happened recently and I don't know why.

When I try to have something move around with 'position' keyframes the image doesn't move in real time and it slides around sometimes for a long time (when dragging left or right), making Premiere Pro unusable for this task. It never used to do this.

Pressing the square icon with a point on each corner next to motion stops it from happening but when I add a keyframe it deselects it so this is also not viable.

Have I enabled something I shouldn't? I couldn't find anything about this.

Wired mouse. Not my mouse because it has worked before with this one and it's also relatively new. It's premiere pro because this doesn't happen in after effects.

If you reset your preferences does it fix it?

What is it you are trying to do? I usually only animate using the effects panel. By Moving in real time, do you mean placing the item for a keyframe? Or during playback?

Here, I recorded a video of it happening.

As you can see when I click the box next to motion it moves smoothly and as it should. (after the few seconds of lag)

But once I deselect it, it slides all over the place making it impossible to move something keyframe by keyframe with ease like I can in after effects

That is strange... It's almost like premiere is not picking up that you released the mouse. Is your mouse wireless? maybe it's a battery or dongle issue?
