I am putting together a video that will use direct talking to camera, AND B role with audio commentary, and I will be using a DJI mini micTo ensure consistency of voice, should I:video my commentary and simply delete the video track and use the audio for the B role, or: Use Audition for the B role and import that audio? If I do, I’ll have to use my laptop which will obviously be different hardware than the video camera.Will both audio be consistent if I use the same mic?Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions

I’ll just add that I find the voice over inside PR to be convenient. If I don’t like to audio match, I use something else, but I usually find it just fine.

I would think the exact conditions of the recording would matter far more than the recording device. Are you recording directly to the camera with the DJI?

Exact placement of the mic, and the tone of the room, if you record in a different space, would matter far more.

That said, I don’t think having a different sound for voiceover is necessarily jarring, as long as volume matches well.

I will be recording direct to the camera with the DJI for the bits I need to, the for the B role was either going to record the voiceover into the camera, delete the video, and use the audio bit I need, or use my laptop for the B role audio.

Either way I will be using the DJI mini mic for both. Me to video was going to be outside sitting in garden, and B role indoors.

That’s the plan anyway, but are you saying it’s best to do both sets in the same environment?

No, I’m not saying you need to record both in the same environment, I’m just saying the sound will differ. You’re likely to get cleaner recording inside, and I think that might be preferable to having the sound match. It depends on your intent: if your goal is to convey information, clarity trumps atmosphere.
