Recording problems causing audio syncing problems

I recording video into an iphone and audio in a separate shuresm7b mic. When I go to sync it is not quite matching.

I click on "synchronization" in premier. Then it attempts to sync but I get a failure message. It states that the files do not match. Am I doing something wrong when I actually record? Are the speeds incorrect or something?

I manually did the syncing and I could get it quite close to syncing. But then by the end of the video it was way out of sync.

Also, I should say that this is a two person video podcast. Maybe it's the "stereo" that is a problem?

Correct answer R Neil Haugen

The iPhone video is not recorded at a constant frame rate, but the audio is. That's the problem.

You would maybe be best served by using the free utility app ShutterEncoder to convert the video from VFR (variable framerate) to CFR (constant framerate).

Then the matching will work.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense.
