RED 8k RDM and RDC folders in Media Browser

I am editing a feature that was shot in 8k on the RED Weapon. When bringing the media into the Media Browser, some days it shows up as a series of RDC folders without an RDM folder. On those days, when queued to import, ALL the segments of each R3D file show up ready to import, 001, 002, 003, 004... or whatever depending on length of the shot (each 4gb), when this happens, there is NO RED icon next to the segments, (in list view). If I queue the media from the RDM folders, only the 001 segment shows up from each shot, and the IS a RED icon next to each one. My real question and concern is why, what does the icon represent, and when I import the individual 001 segments from the RDC folders into the project window, am I getting all the data/information from that shot? Side note, but related, if I import all the segments from the RDC folder, (001,002,003...) it will create a file in the project window for each one. So, they are behaving like individual files. Are they all identical, but just with different file designations?

Hi JP (Jamie?). The red dot means that the Media Browser has recognized the footage as RED material. If you click the eye icon in the Media Browser, and the word "RED" is in bold, the Media Browser knows it's RED material. If only "File Directory" is bold, then Premiere doesn't recognize the format properly.

In every case I've encountered, this is because the folder structure is not right, because some folders or files have been moved out of their original root folders. There needs to be only one common root folder (original name RDM, but can be changed), and there cannot be any other subfolders (RDC, but can be changed) with RED files in them at the same level as the root folder. You also need to keep the subfolders. "Naked" R3D files in a folder will not get the RED icon.

    I hope this helps.
