Redacting video with a black rectangle

Question

Hello i am trying to redact/censor a video with a black rectangle instead of a gaussian blur or mosaic effect. I am still learning but i know how to censor with effects like gaussian blue or mosaic. is there a way to redact that same way and instead of using a blur or mosaic i can do it with a black rectangle to completely block what i am censoring.

If the object you need to redact is not moving, you can do this easily by adding a black rectangle. Go to Graphics and Titles > New Layer > Rectangle.

If the object is moving and you want to track it, try this:
- Go to the Effects panel and find the Levels effect, then add it to your clip.
- In the Effect Controls panel, set the Black Input Level to 255.
- Add a mask to the effect and click Track Selected Mask to follow the movement.
