Reducing Video size without cutting footage

Hi,

I am reducing a 16:9 video to a portrait 9:16, however when i do this it cuts off the sides of my video.. Is there a way to fix this while keeping it at 9:16?

    You can't change the aspect ratio without either adding black, or cropping something from the original.

    What is the intended purpose here?

    Yes, i am noticing that, it is cutting the sides from my original video is there anyway around this?

    Reducing the video file so it can be embedded for mobile.

    Ah.

    The correct solution here is to have the viewer turn his phone sideways.  Leave the video as is.
