Remaster dvd video and audio but keep original menu

Here is my goal: to remaster dvds for a client but keep the original menus if possible. These menus have a scrolling feature as there are a few options to choose from. My guess is that I will need to convert the dvd file to an mp4, retain the original file with the menu data, remaster the mp4, convert it back to dvd format and combine the retained menus with the new dvd file somehow?
