Render and Replace for mogrt reverts text to place holder text

I'm trying to render graphics from mogrt files but the text I've entered reverts back to placeholder text when I render and replace. They are so slow that I just can't work with them even after buying a new laptop with extra memory. I'm usung the grpro + alpha setting.
