Question

Render does not start and timeline playback subsequently freezes on Apple Silicon

Hello,

I'm having an odd issue. Things will work fine until I try to render a portion of my timeline. The render window will open, but will fail to make any progress. If I hit "cancel," I can usually return to my project without encountering a spinning wheel, but the timeline will not playback anything. I then quit Premiere and after the project closes, the program continues to be unresponsive in the background until I force quit.

Just got a new MacBook Pro 16inch with the M1 chip. I am running the latest Premiere Pro for apple silicon, not the Intel version.

...aaaand Media Encoder freezes if I attempt to export a sequence with GPU acceleration selected.

The render also fails, timeline freezes, etc. when I'm trying to render a linear wipe effect. Still not really sure why certain things triggers this and others don't, but it's a real pain.

I'm now noticing that this glitch only happens when rendering timelines with nested sequences. I'll update if I can figure out anything more specific.
