Render MXF 3840 x 2160 File for Aftereffects

I shot footage in MXF 3840 x 2160 that I want to use in AE. I created a 4K UHD sequence that I thought I could render out to use as a video source for AE but, unfortuantly, Premiere Pro only renders 1920 x 1080 frame and smaller frame sizes. Since Pp does not support 4K, is there a plugin or other software solution someone can reccomend to address this problem? Or do I need to move to a professional editing format like Avid or DaVinci

Premiere Pro does support 4K.

It will edit with a 4K timeline. Perhaps you are not setting up a sequence with the right settings?

Simplest solution is to create a new sequence (any sequence) and then drag one of your 3840x2160 clips to this sequence. You should get a pop-up dialogue box asking if you want to change sequence settings - click that option.

Now you have a sequence that matches your clips dimensions/frame rate etc.

You can aslo choose a 4K sequence preset.

Go to File > New > Sequence and select from some of the 4K presets available under DNx, Prores Raw and others.

Settings for a sequence can also be changed by selecting Sequence menu > sequence settings > then select 'editing mode' and scroll up to reveal 'Custom'. Now you change the sequence settings frame rate, frame size and plenty more to whatever you need.

Thanks, but I tried this. I started my project with a sequence in 1920 x 1080, so Pp won't allow for a 3840 x 2160 sequence above HD frame size. I had to create a new project as a workaround. I'm probably limited in this regard because I am on a Windows 10 machine instead of a Mac.

another way is to create a new 4K sequence and then select & copy all the clips from your existing HD sequence

and paste them into the 4K sequence.

If they appear 'shrunk' in the new 4K sequence - resize one of the clips using the scale paramater in 'effects controls'.

Copy that clip in the timeline (Control-C). Now select all the other clips then right click your mouse and select 'paste attributes' from the drop down menu. Tick 'motion' under 'video attributes.

All clips will now be scaled to the same settings as the first clip you resized.

Mac and windows versions of Premiere Pro are almost identical so apart for a few missing plugins in the Mac version everything will work basically the same.

Good luck.
