Question

Render Times

Hey everybody. I'm making this post as a kind of hail mary, as I'm starting to lose my mind over this. I recently switched to Adobe from Davinci for the "benefits" of After Effects, but the time it's taking to render clips has been absolutely crazy. When I have a dynamic link open, I am not able to even load a preview for the AE Comp in PP, and either rendering and replacing or exporting from after effects and then replacing the clip within my TL takes about 45 minutes for a 3 second rotoscope, if it doesn't fail. I'm certain I must be doing something wrong, as I've run into this issue on both my Mac and my PC. Please let me know if there's anything you could possibly think of that a beginner might be missing. Thank you in advance. Not sure if this is relevant, but while rending, my task manager reports usuage as about ~15% GPU ~10% CPU and ~16 GB Ram.

PC SPECS:

Geforce RTX 3070

Ryzen 7 3800x

32 GB DDR4 3600 mHz Ram

Mac Specs:

2021 16" Macbook Pro (M1 Chip, 16 GB Ram)

I've recently updated from a 2012 macbookpro to a new macstudio, and when I was working on the macbookpro, I always output the AE comp at full resolution and placed the AE output directly above the AE comp in the premiere timeline so I didn't have to render that clip in Premiere.  You can open the underlying AE comp in the Premiere timeline and make changes and then re-render in AE...

Question, if you render out file from premiere and then do it in AE. whats there the result ? I see you are very low in RAM. Other question : what format? size? codec?

Hi Xander30739010sorw!

Sorry about the trouble. Would you mind sharing the following information?

  • Which version of the application are you using?
  • Do you have third-party effects in your composition?
  • Is it happening with a specific file?

Let us know.

Thanks,

Kartika

Thank you for the quick response!

I am using Version 23.5.0

I have no effects on my composition.

It is not happening with a specific file, I have had this issue on any file I've attemped to rotoscope.
