Rendering issues

I couldn't render my timeline, called support and they reset my sequence settings to mirosoft avi, and it worked once, I can get it to render by using the cineform setting or quicktime but after rendering the video it's choppy and laggy, tried just rendering a single clip from a samsung phone (mp4) and it wouldn't work either, I have had zero trouble until all of a sudden it no longer worked,  I can take the same gopro video and open it in elements and render it with no issues. when trying to render with the avi setting I get the error code that everyone quotes on here, but it starts at 0:000 and it doesn't matter if you delete that clip or any other you'll get the same error code until I change the setting in the sequence settings (video preview) I have included a screen shot of the sequence settings, is there something I'm not seeing or setting correctly.  also everytime I start a new project it is set for microsoft avi

Support is great at making sure that the Adobe software is installed properly and will launch as expected.

They're neither video editiors, assistant video editors, nor video post-production specialists.
