Question

Replace edited footage after duplicating sequence, without affecting original sequence

I have a single video source that I dropped on the timeline (sequence 1.) I've chopped it all up to remove sections.

I've now duplicated the sequence (sequence 2) and want to replace the video with an alternative but keep the cuts.

How do I do this please?

I've tried replace clip, but for every cut it restarts the video at frame 0.

If I use replace footage, it also changes the video in sequence 1.

To duplicate your sequence with different media, follow these steps:

  1. Save your project
  2. Go to File > Import, and select the project file you're working in.
  3. In the import dialog, check the boxes for Import Selected Sequences and Allow Importing Duplicate Media, then click OK.
  4. In the Import Premiere Pro Sequence dialog, select the sequence you want to duplicate from the list.
  5. This will create a duplicate of your sequence along with a new copy of the media.
  6. To replace the media, go to the Project panel, select the duplicate media, and choose Clip > Replace Footage.

WOW! That's a complicated work around for something that should be a basic feature.

Thank you so much for your answer I will try it out.

I also didn't realise you could import a project into itself, interesting.
