Replace with after effects composition extension clip

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a timeline in Premiere Pro, and I want to rotoscope a clip. Right-click, Replace with After Effects composition. Once in AE, I've got the section of the clip, but when I double-click to use the roto brush, the AE timeline changes, and instead of the section of the clip from Premiere Pro, I have the whole clip on it. How can I rotoscope just the section of the chosen clip in Premiere Pro?

Thanks for your help!

This is normal behavior as Paul said, but I would not go

Rotoscoping on After Effects using dynamic link, I prefer

launching the clip on a fresh new AE project, Rotoscope,

export and import back to Premiere Pro to avoid lagging

playback during editing. It depends on your workflow in the end.

To rotoscope your footage in After Effects, you’ll want to load it into the Layer panel (similar to the Source Monitor in Premiere Pro). You should still see the in/out points of the clip, which indicate the portion being used in your sequence.

This lets you focus on the needed section of the clip and ignore the rest.
