Replacing Footage Removes Time Remapping – Bug or Oversight?

Hello,
I'm trying to replace some footage in my sequence with a new version. 
 
The current section has been retimed, but when I replace it with the new clip from the bin, it doesn’t carry over the retiming.

Is this a glitch, or am I overlooking something?

How are you replacing nested sequences?

I tested two methods:

  • Clip > Replace With Clip > From Source Monitor
  • Shift + Alt (Windows) / Shift + Option (Mac) while dragging the sequence from the Project panel onto the nested sequence in the timeline


In both cases, the time remapping was preserved.

The way I was doing it was by selecting the clip in the sequence, then selecting the new clip in the Project panel, right-clicking, and choosing Replace with Clip > From Bin...  this method has worked for me in the past, which is why I’m a bit confused and wondering if this might be a bug.

 

I also tried both methods you suggested....

Unfortunately, Clip > Replace With Clip > From Source Monitor doesn’t work properly on my end.  It gives me the same result.

 

However, Shift + Alt + Drag did work as expected... very weird.

Works fine here 25.3.2 on windows.

How exactly are you replacing the clip in the timeline.

I'm also on Windows, using Premiere Pro version 25.2.3.

 

Where I'm running into trouble is with sequences and nested sequences:

I have a main sequence (Sequence-A), edited precisely to match the narration timing.

 

For part of the project that requires retiming, I’ve nested Sequence-A into a new sequence called Retime-Sequence-A and applied time remapping there.

 

Now the project calls for a different version—Sequence-B—which uses different embedded graphics but follows the exact same timing. So, I created Retime-Sequence-B.

 

Here’s the issue:
Inside Retime-Sequence-B, when I try to replace the nested Sequence-A with Sequence-B, the timing changes I applied in Retime-Sequence-A don’t carry over. The retiming seems to reset or get lost entirely.

 

Could this be a limitation or quirk with how nesting and retiming interact?
