Question

Resize and Move Text ?

Adobe seems to make the most basic features difficult to use. First off, the font slider is cumbersome on the screen, activating when the use tries to scroll the settings section… And the numeric font size is out of bounds of the screen… So, the font size is now successfully changed, but the text isn’t centred anymore. How to simply move the text to the left to compensate without affecting the fade in animation? Since there’s no setting for the position near the font size field in the basic properties. Thanks!

    @Avatar55977840,

    I see your feature request, but there’s more information to explore in this thread first.

    Text animations rely on the anchor point to determine how adjustments occur. And there are multiple  relevant anchor points. A simple example is that some text sets the anchor point upper left by default. When you zoom this in the text properties, it zooms in and out on the upper left. If you zoom it in motion properties, the anchor point is in the middle, and it zooms there. If the text box is not centered, this still won’t look right.

    Screenshots would be helpful as to how you are setting this up and the type of animation you are doing.

    Well, this is a brand project, so no screens available. However, the use case is the most basic: Add a Text in the monitor screen, then apply the Effects panel to change the opacity and position for the text, so that is slides in the screen with video keyframes. After that, try to resize the Text while centred on the screen without affecting the animations… Thanks!

    @Avatar55977840,

    What version of PR are you working in? You are working in the Properties panel, not effect controlls, right?

    Keep in mind that anchor point can affect such things. Screenshots might help. Are you animating position, size, or both?

    >  numeric font size is out of bounds of the screen…

    Is it okay if you make the panel wider?

    Yes, the Properties box for the selected Text. Numeric font size shows up if wider, but takes UI real estate for nothing... The most basic parameter not available for the location, sadly.

    @Avatar55977840,

    What version of PR are you on?

    There was a version a few back where this was set up differently, and caused this problem too easily. But the standard configuration requires a certain width.

    Have you tried switching back to the selection (arrow) tool, clicking on the text and then dragging it for position or using the bounding box to re-size it?

    Yes, resizing works fine, since it’s included in the Properties, when the Text is selected. However, the position then moves relative to the animation… The goal is to align the Text to compensate for the resize. Thanks.
