Question

reveal in project not working and files not showing up in bin

Someone shipped me a drive and a project file and when i click on certain clips on the timeline and press reveal in project, it shoots me to the project tab but is unable to find the clip. if i do a manual search for the clip in the bin (A1103.mxf) it turns up nothing.  I'm also noticing empty folders/bins in the project, and if i press delete it warns me "the selection you are deleting contains clip references in one or more sequences. if you continue these clip references will also be deleted. do you want to continue?" so i pressed because the bin was empty, but then i saw music disappear off my timeline when i deleted this bin. so why are bins showing up empty and not showing me the file? i dont usually have this problem. this was an inherited project.

I'm on MacOS Monterey. Version 12.6

Adobe Premiere Version 22.6.2 (Build 2) aka Premiere Pro 2022

Issue resurfaced again last night. I had 2 projects open at once. I went into "Project A" and copied some clips from "Timeline 1", then went to a timeline in "Project B" called "timeline 2" and hit paste. and the clips showed up on my timeline.  but when I right click the clip on the timeline and press reveal in project, it shoots me to the project area and an empty folder. I did a search for the file name verbatim in premiere and nothing comes up in the search even though I can see the clips on my timeline.  The clips are 4k. So because I'm not able to access them in the project panel, theres no way to right click on them to choose "create proxy". I sent the project file and media to a friend who was using a PC and not a mac, and he said he experienced the same problem as me. This seems like a bug!!!   (i'm using adobe premiere 23.0.0 build 63).

having the same issue, trying to consolidate a multi user project, which we all know means Premiere has duplicated every file, bin and sequence so many times that you just want to put your head through a wall, and I am unable to delete empty bins. really wish Adobe would after all these years actually make something where multiple users can work on the same project and not make a mess of it.

If you start a project in Productions, or in Team Projects mode, you can stay away from the mass-duplication issues.

But yea, if you've got a massive stand-alone old style project and try and combine that with something else, that can be a right mess. And especially as there's a lot of things that are pickly little nasty buggers you have to know if you say try and use the Project Manager to 'consolidate'.

As some formats/codecs work beautifully, others get either copied in full when you only want bits & pieces, and some things get left out in total. If you've got a couple thousand total assets ... oh. my. word.

can i recommend staying away from the "PROJECT MANAGER" version of consolidate? its gonna clip a lot of your heads and tails. as an editor, unless you're archiving the project, i'd stay the hell away from "project manager's" version of consolidate because itll be nothing but more trouble and headache for you IMO. can i recommend that you watch the youtube video linked below, it shows a different work around: go to edit menu and choose the consolidate duplicates
