Question

Rolling Edit Using Source Window

Say I want to change the in point of a clip that's already in the timeline without changing its start position on the timeline.

To say it way more wordily and perhaps no more clearly: I know that this footage will be showing up between two points on the timeline but I don't like the particular movement/content in that part of the footage and I want to explore how other parts of the footage look in that particular place on the edit.

I used to be able to do this in Final Cut by just having the rolling edit tool selected while I make an adjustment in the source viewer. But that doesn't seem to work in Premiere.

Thanks

Double-click on the clip in the timeline, this will open it in the Source monitor.\

Now you can scroll the bar without changing the length of the clip.

Hey Ann thanks for your response but this doesn't answer my question.

Once i change In point after opening in source monitor, any changes will be reflected in the timeline by the clip changing length.

I want to keep the timeline in/out the same while scrubbing to a new In. In finalcut this is a rolling edit and the out point will follow at the same distance...
