Hi.

I'm fairly new to the program. I'm taking a class and have a project to do. The lab for my class has premiere pro cc 2015, but i'm not sure what build atm and can't find out for a few days. I am trialing use of Premiere Pro CC 2015 10.3 on my home computer. if i start the project on my home computer, and finish it here, will i be able to use the project file to submit for assessment, considering my class might have a slightly different 2015 cc build?

    Hi Davidm,

Check the instructions in the following article to find the Premiere Pro version number.

FAQ: How to find the exact version of Premiere Pro you're using?

Premiere Pro project files are not backwards compatible, It is not possible to open a project file created in latest version in Old version.

The project file created in Premiere Pro 2015.3 is compatible with 2017 version, but it is not compatible with any old other version.

    Thanks,

    Vidya Sagar.

    Hey David

The usual limitation is that a newer version of the software will be able to open a project from an older version . . .  but not the other way around.

So if your trial version is a newer build than they're  running at your school then that might cause some problems.  A workaround would be to save / export your project as an XML.

I'd recommend you test the work flow and get approval from your teacher before committing to it tho.

    Best

Also keep in mind that the trial is only for 7 days.
