save media in video

back with another question sorry. So yesterday my computer broke basically (no comment) and ive been told by support that i have to do a hard reboot which will delete all my files.

Obviously ive done a backup of everything including my premiere file and all the media (images, audio, video, etc) that ive put in it. the thing is that even if i have all the files on my usb and i put them back on my pc after the reboot, i know premiere will still do the thing where it says "we couldn't find these files" and you have to find them for it again. I know because before rebooting i tried pre-rendering(?) the video (or whatever that was that i was told to do yesterday, like selecting sequence and pressing enter) and then opening the premiere file on the pc of my friend who has the same version of premiere on it (2023) and it didn't find any of the files. I also tried to "find" the media files from my friend's pc (theyre all on the same usb key, which is inserted in her pc right now) and it didn't find them when I selected the folder they are in and clicked search even if they are RIGHT THERE. So I would have to find them again one by one which is a GIGANTIC task.

is there any way i can make it so my sequence on premiere retains all the media ive put on it without having to keep all my media files where they are? Like making it so once ive put something in the video its in the video even if i move or delete it?

im sorry for all the questions lately im just struggling so much and now my computer broke too i feel like someone cursed me -____-

Try creating a fixed drive letter for the USB drive on which the media is located.

Hey Alice,

I understand how frustrating this must be for you. Here's an article on relinking offline media that could help you with this problem: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/premiere-pro/using/relinking-media.html. Are the media files stored in your system's internal storage? If not, could you try moving the files to the internal storage and check if that helps?

Anyone pleaseeeeee😭 i refuse to believe there's no way of doing this like i can do save my work regardless of what happens to my files on any crappy online video/photo editor and i cant do it on adobe???????

Try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Tried moving some images to a different folder before importing my project into a new project and it still gives me the error message of files missing.

is there truly no way to just... save media on a video? do i seriously have to keep everything immaculately exactly where it is until im finished and i can export it? That just seems stupid

Also even if i try to find the files manually one by one (again on my friends pc from an usb key) it shows me the pictures with a number of seconds next to it as if theyre videos and if i click on them it says "impossible to connect files because the file selected is video type and doesn't correspond to the original file". Even if its NOT a video its a PICTURE and it LOOKS like a picture and is in png or jpeg when i look at the same identical file from the same identical usb key on my pc.
