After working, foolishly, on a new project in the latest upgrade (26.0.2) and masking is a mess, so need to save it out to previous 2025 version - is this possible?

    @Todd_Morgan,

     As @R Neil Haugen says, once you learn the new masking, you won’t need to revert.

    In the meantime, the method @Peru Bob mentions works. This uses the export to FCP XML. The version opened will not have any  masks, and it also does not carry transcriptions and captions.

    Upvote this feature request, for PR to provide a method for saving to an earlier version.

    If you have a previous version installed (see if it’s available in your CC app):

    I do but still no… maybe the new PR update has made major changes and doesn’t allow saving for downgrade

    The new masking “is a mess” if you did NOT read the documentation on it. Period.

    Yes, it is very different! And it is far more capable.

    But you must read the documentation on it, you will never simply guess how to use is.

    Go to the Mask icon on the timeline’s Toolbar, hover, you get a pop-up that includes the link to that writeup. GO READ IT THOROUGHLY.

    Premiere can now do most of what we needed to go to AfterEffects to rotoscope up until the new masking system was developed. Now, very little advanced masking actually needs Ae. Thankfully.

    Everyone's mileage always varies ...
