Saving preferences in Adobe Premiere not working

I am using Premiere 22.1.2 on a M1 macbook pro running Monterey.  If I make changes in preferences and click "ok", nothing happens.  The window does not close.  The only way to get out of preferences is to click "cancel" which ofcoarse doesn't say any of my changes.

I have checked permission on all known preferences folders and I have read and write access.  Any ideas?

Correct answer Michael Grenadier

checking permissions does not always really confirm that there is a problem...

Do some googling on fixing permissions and see if you can find any solutions.

Was this ever working on your system?

You might try creating a new user account with administrator privileges and see if that solves the problem...

Thanks for the reply.  I took your "new user" suggestion a little to the extreme, but it work...

I bought the macbook about a month ago and migrated over my user account from my old laptop.   I've have other weird issues with other apps since then,  so I started over and reset the new macbook back to factory with a clean install of macOS.  I then setup a new user from scratch without migrating anything.  Everything is back installed and working normally.

It had to be the user account.  My wife didn't migrate anything on her new mac and never had a single problem.  Thanks for leading me down the right path!

yeah, migrating your stuff from another computer is fraught with potential darkness...   glad you figured it out and posted your solution
