Question

Screen/display issue or auto transforming clip?

Hello, I have a video file taken on an iPhone and in landscape mode.  However, when I add it to the editing lanes and play back, Premiere Pro is making EVERY CLIP (not just this one) into a portrait orientation?!  How do I stop this, as I want a fully landscape video (and I will crop portrait videos accordingly)?

I should note that I am working on a new computer and when I logged in this time, I was told by Premiere Pro that my screen resolution was too low so I should make adjustments in this computer's display settings.  I lowered the resolution from the recommended 1920 x 1080 down to 1280 x 800.  Is this causing the issue?  I don't believe this was an issue before today when I manually changed the resolution.

Below I have a snapshot of the original footage in the Team Project window (showing the file as landscape), and another photo showing it from the playback lanes (showing it altered to portrait).  Thanks everyone for your help!

Set up a landscape sequence.

Drop the vertical image into this sequence.

Open clip in source monitor and go to the source setting.

Add transform effect and rotate to make it landscape.

Hi Ann, I am very new to Premiere Pro (though I have used previous, other brand software).  Just to be sure I understand you, I am going to have to do this FOR EVERY CLIP even though they are landscape oriented clips anyway?  There are ~250, so trying to avoid opening up every clip.  Thanks for helping me understand!

You can add the transform effect as source effect in one go to all clips in the Project window.
