Searching RED Metadata Across the Creative Cloud

Hello all,

I am attempting to work with RED's metadata across the creative cloud and experiencing some issues. My ultimate goal is to be able to search any metadata I entered in Premiere in Bridge. The goal is to be able to quickly locate files from previous projects that are tagged (for example with "water") and then go back to Premiere and just import those clips.

In trying to accomplish this, I have found different metadata getting across to different software. Entering data into the metadata fields in Premiere are visible in Prelude, but not in After Effects or Bridge. Entering information into the metadata in After Effects seems to add an extra .xmp file to the folder structure, but none of the other programs see any of that metadata. Bridge doesn't see any metadata and is unable to write to the .r3d file's metadata at all.

Preferably, I'd like to be able to search through logged footage within the Adobe Suite and not have to rely on 3rd party file management software. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Note: All Adobe products are up-to-date with 2017.

This is a huge problem ... Adobe is overall, the company that in many ways pushed getting and using metadata in the files, both with Bridge and Lightroom in stills and Prelude/PrPro in video.

But they are completely different implementations, that as you note, do NOT talk nicely with each other, which is a total pain and completely beyond belief for the company that puts such an emphasis on projects being cross-program!

So ... the bug/feature request form, and fill one out for EVERY PROGRAM of the group ... as I've done ... Photoshop, Bridge, LIghtroom, Premiere Pro, Prelude, Audition, AfterEffects ... they all need to use the same process.

Neil, I would also suggest posting and voting to get R3D files support in Bridge. https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/_r3d_support_for_bridgecc
