Separately animate image and relative mask

Hi, i imported an image in my prject, put the image into the timeline, and now i would like to create a mask and separately animate it from the image. The purpose is to move the image while the mask stands, obtaining this way that the image appear and disappear when it passes into the mask space and out.

I tried using the movement control and applying keyframes to both movement tool mand mask path, but in every case image and mask move together, and not separately.

Any suggestion about it?

Say it's a rectangle (the mask you want). Use the Rectangle tool from the main toolbar and draw the rectangle. Now in the properties panel, select "Mask with Shape" (like Ann has)

the drop in an image from your project into the properties panel under Shape 01 in.

Now you have 2 assets in the one graphic and you can manipulate both or just one, etc...

As i already answered to Ann, i created a graphic form into the Properties Panel applying then a mask to it, and then dropped the image inside, managing the levels of the two, and i obtained the expected result.

Make the mask in the Properties panel and then add the image to the properties panel.

Use mask with shape.

Both assets can be keyframed independently.

Thank you for your kind answer, but sincerly i did not understand anything.

How can i create a mask in the Properties Panel? By itself? Or selecting the image? Selecting nothing?

If i select my image in the timeline the properties panel doesn't appear as in your image, but shows only few controls about position and crop of the image (psd or png).

And how can i "add an image to the properties panel"?

and no the mask does not move as you are not using the track matte effect.
