Question

Sequence settings for mixed footage

Hi all. I’m pretty comfortable working in Premier and choosing settings and such, but I have a weird situation:

I need to create a video that will ultimately result in a QuickTime file at 1920 x 1080. However this single video will be comprised of nine individual clips  displayed as a grid that are all at different resolutions and frame rates.

Would anyone be able to help me understand what precautionary steps I need to take and best practices, or possibly direct me to a tutorial on combining mixed footage like this? In AE I would just interpret the footage, is that how you do it in Premier as well?

Thanks!

Same principles apply in AE as in Premiere, note that interpreting as a different frame rate will either speed up or slow down your footage, so that may not be what you want. If it's subtle enough, you don't need to change anything, if it's too choppy, then you'll want to retime and set either "Frame Blending" or "Optical Flow" to calculate the in-between frames. Regarding resolution, you won't want to scale stuff up too much unless you have to, after around 125% you start to quality loss. Since you're making a grid, you probably won't run into this problem though, you'll just want to crop each video so they're the same aspect ratio and such. Placing each video in a next may be the best solution with this.
