Sequences getting automatically renamed to gibberish

Hi - I'm having an issue in which sequence names get renamed to gibberish after closing/saving, then re-opening.  This is in 2024 for Windows.

Doesn't matter whether I save the project to local storage or my home server.  After closing, then re-opening, all sequences instead of starting with, for example, "2024-", start with "20240e00."

Clips, multicam sequences, and bins all survive the process. It's just the sequence names that get changed.

Any idea what's going on here?

Hey all just to follow up here, I worked with @PatchworksMedia and we got to the bottom of things. It turns out @PatchworksMedia happened on an exact particular way to name sequences that uncovered a bug we weren't aware of. We'll have a fix in our next version.

Thank you! I'll reach out. I'm not using any special characters other than a standard hyphen, which I have used just fine in countless thousands of sequence names over the years. And again, this isn't even a filename, it's just a sequence name. I am absolutely befuddled by this one.

You can send a PM (private message) to Matt - or any of us helpers.

I did a test with test-xyz, and there was no effect. I wonder if you're using one of the characters that can cause issues - here's the first list I found in a search:

After multiple tests renaming sequences, saving, and re-opening Premiere, it actually seems like this bug may be triggered by having a specific sequence of characters (letters and a hyphen) in the sequence name. I can elaborate separately just because it's a client-related sequence of characters and I prefer not to specify client names on forum. Anyone I should reach out to?

Thank you! However, I have the same results after both resetting preferences and after checking Extensions. I did have PluralEyes in there, but have uninstalled it and continue to see the same after uninstall.

I've seen examples like this happening before due to third-party extensions installed that are renaming items. Check under Window > Extensions, do you have any there?
