setting a proxy preset in Premiere ?

Sorry simple question and with an easy anwer I'm sure !  In Adobe media decoder I set up a 16:9 Prores LT preset some time ago and this is saved under customs.  Question ... how do incorporate this same LT preset as an option in the 'create proxy' dropdown menu in Premier Pro. I can't work out how to do this as when clicking the 'add ingest preset' tab, as it opens up a finder Window on my Mac ?  Then what 🙂

    Yes ... click the Add Ingest Preset button ...

    That's the problem, each time I press this ingest Preset "button' it goes to my Mac desktop or my Mac Finder window, driving me round the bend!!

    I can understand going to this window when I 'choose location' for the preset, but not when 'adding ingest' ?

    The proxy preset process is a bit more involved than I'd like it to be.

     

    You did the first step ...

    • start by creating an export/encoding preset in MediaEncoder;
    • continuing in Me, create an Ingest preset, that incorporates the encoding preset you just made;
    • in the MediaBrowser in Premiere, go to the settings for ingest, and add the Ingest preset you just created.

     

    Now you can use that for making proxies.

    Thanks Neil, Are these the ingest settings in the media browzer ? Seems I then get back to square one with that "add Ingest Preset" tabm, as when I press this it goes back to my Mac finder window..

    When you created the preset. did you create it as an ingest preset?

    Many thanks for your rply Meg ! Sorry, this is way over my head, this  would have been done by one of the editing folk assisting me some time back. I was hoping I would find the LT proRes option in the drop down menu, but no sign of it.

    I suppose I could just opt for the Prores proxy Quick time 1280 x 720 option for the project, but ideally wanted to keep it all the  same as when we started with using ProRes LT . 

     

    The project was shot in 5K for the green screen backgrounds and about the same quality with using 21mb stills for time lapse materia,l which I'm conforming and then roughly keying. I presume I could just work in this low res proxy format and then export things in higher res if required ?
