Setting Video Playback Device Is Buggy (Windows 10)

I have a 3-monitor setup on a GTX1070. I want my playback on Monitor 2. I select Monitor 2. But the selection never sticks. It moves to Monitor 3, sometimes to Monitor 1. But in any case, it usually doesn't even play on any of those monitors. BUT SOMETIMES it does. It's kind of hit-and-miss. When it takes, I'm good until some event (like today) when I had to uninstall/reinstall the software. Then I have to go through the whole hit-and-miss process over again until it sticks.

Does anyone else have this problem?

KazuT,

I run three monitors here myself ... main OS monitor is 2560x1080, then a 'secondary' 1920x1080 monitor, and the third I use for Transmit Out is a 3840x2160.

Windows is set to "extend" across the displays, I keep Premiere program window on the OS monitor so it's happy, and I don't "span" things across displays.

What is your specific setup, and which number-dot-number version of Premiere are you using?

I'm having this same issue. Aside from getting a dedicated I/O device, are there any solutions to make it less hit and miss?

Don't use the GPU for this.  Hook up the second monitor to a dedicated I/O device, like the following.

I have this same issue, I just spoke with a couple people at Adobe, they said this should be partially fixed in 13.1.3 and fully fixed in 14.0. I will update with known issue numbers once I get them.

Edit: They did mention that you might be able to work around the issue by setting your Mercury Playback device as monitor 1 in the Windows settings. Not ideal.

Thanks! Where do I find that Windows setting?

In your Display Settings, select the monitor you want Mercury Playback to appear on, and then check "Make this my main display". You may also want to go into the Taskbar Settings and check "Show taskbar on all displays".
