Shot Date not Importing into Premiere

I see numerous problems in the forum with original metadata from video clips/files not importing into Premiere.  I've tried changing numerous settings without success.  I use a  Canon XA-10 AVCHD Camera that produces .mts files .  First, I save the files from the camera to the computer hard drive for importing into Premiere.  After import, the only dates that Premiere shows is the date/time of import with shot and creation dates empty.

Using DVMP Pro 7, I have verified the mts files still contain their original dates and times of recording.   Does anyone know how to get the original mts file metadata to import into Premiere?
