Question

Should I keep my AE and PR cache in the same location?

I made custom folders to seperate my PR and AE cache and I use them for every project from now on (it helps me keep all my cache organized). Is this good practice? Also, my cache database is the same amongst both programs, so I need to make a new Cache database folder. Any advice would be appreciated.

In my system, I have not only dedicated separate folders to cache and temp files, but devoted a special M.2 drive of 256GB to this. Usually, this is cleared automatically by Adobe, but sometimes I empty all those folders, either through the Purge option in Ae or in your finder/explorer directly.

By separating out OS/Data/Temp on separate drives you prevend most bottlenecks. However, I would strongly advise against the use of external media connected via USB(-C)...

It works for me, 98% of the time. Hope this helps for you too.

Yeah, I think my next investment is an M.2 or another SSD specifically for Cache. I store it on my Primary SSD drive and delete them after the project is done. Thanks for the advice.
