Question

Simplest workflow for an instructional video to transition between video PIP and image overlay?

I'm composing a presentation style instructional video where I want to flip (transition) between two standard views throughout the presentation. Sequentialy it would go something like this: video of me full screen, then an image (slide) appears over the video in the top left of screen, then transition to the same image in full screen, with me in video PIP on the bottom right of the image.

I'm seeing some of the preset effects like PIP 25% LR, and I've accomplished some of the above with trial and error. But mostly I'm wondering about the most effecient series of effects and tools to do this repetitively (and have it look consistent!). I figure one of you veterans has some experience with a workflow like this.

Mockup attached to illustrate what I'm getting at (that's not me btw 😉

Brand new here so appreciate any advice!

Matt

You can use one of the PIP presets or make your own preset if you want a different proportion.

There are several ways to get the black outline around the small picture.

You can create it with a Mogert shape. You can use the Roughen Edges effect with the proper settings.  You can use a color matte.

I didn't know you could create your own PIP preset, that'll be helpful. Thanks!

A PIP is the best method.
