Since installing Premiere Pro, VLC and KMPlayer barely work. Help?

I'm at a loss here, I've been using both VLC and KMPlayer forever with no issues. The same day I installed Premiere Pro both programs will hang after opening a file, even stuff I've watched dozens of times (all codecs, all containers). This applies to videos worked on in Premiere Pro and untouched source video. No video/audio plays and when I close the program it doesn't actually close, it's stuck in the taskbar and won't re-open unless I kill it through task manager. The fact that this happened immediately after installing Premiere Pro as well as it being both programs leads me to believe Premiere Pro is causing issues. And yes, I can watch the videos that fail to load in VLC/KMP with no issues in Premiere Pro though this isn't ideal for my workflow. Any advice?
