Small file. Small edit. Plays perfectly. Export. Black square.

How is it possible that after more than 23 major builds over so many, many years...

...It's still possible to open a small file, do a simple edit, have it play perfectly, but when you export it, you get a black square and no audio
Tried different sizes and versions.
Same result.
Quick search of the Adobe database of issues folks have experienced, reveals gems like the one below from 6 years ago...

...Its not just Premiere, the lack of attention to detail at adobe does my head in. Things I've been complaining about since 2003 are still problems... ...Currently finding premiere stable to use, but utterly crapola for rendering (which I don't get because it's rendering previews fine)...

That is not something I've ever had happen in a decade of working in PrPro. It's something dependent on something going haywire in your system/settings or something. May take some troubleshooting.

 

But is very fixable IF you give us the full working details of your system, OS/CPU/RAM/GPU, GPU driver (that can be important) ... the type of media on the sequence, and your sequence settings.

 

Screen grabs dragged/dropped onto your text reply are are great, we can see things without your having to type forever.

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.
