sound files replaced by different sound files

Another supremely frustrating experience with Premiere.. I'm currently using 13.0.2. Working on a project and all of my sound files for one sequence have been replaced by a random sound file.

I have a five minute sequence that consists of one original sound file, cut up into smaller ones. The shortened clips still remain at their same length, but now they all come from a different original file from a different bin (which had the same name).

Please help.

Right-click on the audio file in the Project panel and choose Replace Footage ... choose the original audio file and click Open. This way you will have the file that you really want to have.

Then go to the Finder or Explorer and change the name to the one that is linking you and that you do not want.
