Sound level difference - Source vs. Timeline panels

I have a problem that I'd love help on. My audio clips play at a normal volume in the source monitor, but when I move them to the timeline they are so faint. Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix? I moved the volume up to the highest level in the timeline, but then it makes it extremely loud in the source panel. Help needed so I can properly edit the sound within the timeline!
