Sound quality degrades when I move audio from Source Monitor to Timeline

Question

I am trying to place background music to my project but as soon as I move the audio from the Source Monitor (or media panel) to the timeline the sounds degrades badly. The already present video sound is fine.  I've tried cleaning up my cache, rendering, delete rendered files, uploading .avi .mp3 and .wav versions. Nothing.  Any ideas?  Could it have anything to do with the quality of the video itself (1080)?

The audio you are trying to place (Background) is probably recorded at a lower frequency and bitrate. Please post a screen grab of the original sound properties and the new background sound properties. Also the sequence settings,

Cache and rendered files have nothing to do with the issue
