Source window lag in Premiere Pro 24.0 on Macbook M2 Max

I get a delay in the ability to scrub the source file window after adding a clip into my sequence, there is a 5-10 second delay until it catches up. The footage is 1080x1920. My GPU acelerator is on (metal) and I have deleted cache as well as adding as many gigs to the RAM available as possible. All playback resoultions are set to 1/8. Is this something being experienced by more than just myself? I am bummed becasue I just got this laptop with 96g of RAM to enhance performance but not getting the results I hoped for.
