Spatial Audio - IEM Plugin Suite - Channel configuration not working

There is a free VST plugin suite that works directly in ambisonics AmbiX channel order: the IEM plugin suite. It would be ideal for immersive video and spatial audio editing, since it works in the same Ambisonics format as Premiere.

Unfortunately the plugins' channel configuration does not work in Premiere. It refuses to switch to 4-channel mode (let alone higher order) and only allows one Mono input, one Mono sidechain input, and one Mono output.

It is a standard VST plugin, so why can't Premiere properly connect with it?

Premiere Pro version: 23.5.0

Platform: Windows 10

I contacted the authors of the plug-in suite and they said that the VST3 version of the plugin suite are more compatible with Premiere's channel configuration - however the latest version 1.14 has the VST3 versions removed. They are however working on an update of the VST3 plug-in framework that will let the next release of IEM to work with 'official' Ambisonic channels in Premiere.

Hi Peter,

Have you gained any traction or experience with Spatial audio and Premiere?
I'm working in VR Video and Ambisonic Recording, and I'm wanting to dive into spatial sound design, and not finding anything up to date for mixing/editing spatial HRTF audio mixes.
I would love to have more discussions on this topic.

Count me in for this one! I'm creating 360/3D videos with recorded ambisonic sound (straight into the Insta Pro 2), and I'll be damned if I can get it to play back ambisonic in the headset. It feels like any tutorial i watch that's older than 6 months is outdated and any plugins/software used depricated. Quite frustrating really! If there is an elegant, reliable process for watching/listening to 360 videos with head-movement-reactive sound, I'd love to hear/see it!
