Splitting a clip with a dynamic transcript causes playback to freeze

Working with a ~10 min clip which has been transcribed — whenever I use the knife tool or Cmd-K to split a clip there's a 5-10 sec delay before I'm able to resume playback. Perhaps due to issues with Mac OS Sonoma 14.0.
