STARTING FROM SCRATCH WITH PREMIERE PRO

I am very new to the program and made some mistakes in regards to making proxies and trying to make my footage playback smoothly. Now when I have my video displayed in the upper right panel, there is a box around my video. So now I'm trying to start from scratch and erase all program adjustments I've previously made. I've tried restarting premiere pro as well as uninstalling and reinstalling it. But nothing seems to work. Any advice?

You probably have a mismatch in the aspect ratios. What is the resolution of your video. Typically it would be 1920x1080 or 3840x2160 (4k). Both work well with 720p (1280x720) proxies. Make sure you are using a Cineform or ProRes proxies, not h.264.

Let us know about your footage.

Trash the preferences and relaunch program.

What exactly is not working? Are you not able to import footage or is it the playback?
Share more details and if possible, attach a screenshot.
