Still crashing!!!! Sigh

I left premiere some time ago due to crashes, and now have to come back for a project.  Simple project - slideshow.
Originally I had jpeg images, but they were very large.  So I resized them and all are not larger than 3800 px on the larger measurement(width or height).  Most are around 1920 or 2800 width, just to give a little zoom room.  Resaved as tiffs and a couple of pngs.

Only two audio files, both are aiff, and the arrow is closed (it used to crash because it didn't like loading waveforms).

15th crash since starting the project.

I have only been able to keyframe motion on two photos, it crashes on the second one.

I'm under deadline and a day behind because of this. What was supposed to be a simple project, has to be delivered tomorrow and I cannot even get the basics.

I love Premiere enough to desperately want it to work.  But the program just doesn't.

Is it just me?  I'm reading about a lot of crashes.

I'm in CS6 at this time.

Very frustrating.

Make new project and import old in into this new one.

See if that is any better.

Oh, thanks Ann, I've made five completely new projects already, with fresh imports.

    It just doesn't like stills.

It's working now, but I had to go to imovie and export my stills as 10 second movies.  Bring it in as Pro Res, so far so good.
