strange behavior regarding timeline and clips selected

Recently switched to a new Mac Book Pro which forced me into running Tahoe.  I’m having issues with Premier Pro 26.5.0 and Tahoe 26.6.2.

The first issue is the timeline.   When I click and drag at on the slider at the bottom of the timeline, it changes the timeline from the zoomed in portion I was working on to the full timeline automatically.   It seems to be the holding the mouse that is causing this behavior, if I hold too long, it auto zooms out.   But I can’t figure out how to turn off this annoying problem.  Not sure if this is a new setting in Premier or a Mac issue. 

The second problem is in the timeline itself.   When I’m working on a clip, Premier now changes which clip is highlighted as I move through the clip.  This has caused serious issues, as I have performed edits to the wrong clip because it changed which clip I was working on without me noticing.  I do something as simple as create a keyframe on a clip, and the next thing I know, I’m now working on a completely different clip at the same mark in the timeline.    Is this a new feature/bug of Premier, as it’s not acted this way before.

    Thanks for describing your situation. These sound like two separate issues.

    For the clip selection problem, check whether Sequence > Selection Follows Playhead is enabled. If it is, turn it off. When enabled, Premiere automatically selects clips as the playhead moves through the sequence, which sounds like the behavior you're describing.

    For the Timeline unexpectedly zooming out when dragging the horizontal scroll bar, that doesn't sound expected. Could you post a short screen recording showing that behavior? It would also be helpful to know whether you're using the MacBook's trackpad or an external mouse.

    1. In Sequoia I can click and drag on the zoom slider all day and it doesn’t change the zoom level. Only by double-clicking does it zoom out to the whole timeline. Are you using a mouse or trackpad? Double-check there aren’t any unwanted settings for clicks/taps in the System Prefs.
