I was making subtitles. After third sentence, the PLUS button got greyed out. Are you kidding me?

Janne,

A screenshot would help.

The most frequent cause for this is not having room for a new subtitle. But this happens even after one subtitle is created.

When you use the plus button to add a caption, the focus stays in the Text panel. If you work in the Timeline, and use Ctrl+Alt+C to add a caption, the focus stays in the timeline. You can then use the following workflow to add the next caption:

There is a keyboard shortcut for "Edit Selected Caption Text" that is unassigned by default. I use Ctrl+Alt+X. Make sure the caption track is “targeted” – if it is the only caption track, click to highlight the “C1” in the track header.

Position for next caption in the Timeline.
Ctrl+Alt+C (creates new caption segment)
Ctrl+Alt+X (puts you in edit mode in the Program Monitor)
Type caption/Paste caption from outside PR
Esc to exit edit mode
Down Arrow (to end of caption segment).

Repeat if next caption starts right after the previous; or move CTI to correct beginning of next caption.

Stan
