Subtitles (srt) import fine but won't display in the programme monitor

I've got a problem that my subtitles import fine,

if I double click on them in the project they show up and I can edit them,

however when I drop them on the timeline they won't show up in the programme monitor (I've enabled subtitles in it).

If I export the project as a sceneartist cc file then it's empty.

Any suggestions how to convince Premiere to display / export them?

Premiere supports Open Captioning srt as noted on bottom of this web Help page I paste here  Learn to work with captions in Premiere Pro

As for having Premiere display the srt - I am not sure - usually after enabling the sub-titles in the program monitor 'wrench' just below 'Enable' is 'Settings' and one needs to choose the proper standard of captions in those settings for Premiere to display. As for srt, I am not sure.

    Thanks for e-mailing.

I've found the problem with the displaying. The program monitor was set to "teletext" but needs to be set to CEA-708 CC1.

However in terms of export that is smelling like a bug. It exports in all other formats but only the scenartist export is always just an empty file.

I see you have a problem with exporting scenartist closed captions .scc

I also see you have started a new specific thread with this topic.
