There are 2 issues. 1) How do you get the “import corrected transcript” active? And 2) can you import external content via this method?

1) “Import corrected transcript” will be greyed out if there is no transcript for the current “view.” If you are in Source media view, you must have a source media transcript to have the option of importing a corrected [source media] transcript. If you are in Sequence view, you must have a static/sequence transcript to have the option of importing a corrected [static] transcript. You do not have to export a transcript to “import corrected.”

To determine what view you have, look at the bottom left of the Text panel/Transcript tab:

It is a bit easier to have “Follow active monitor” turned on. For example, if you open a clip in the Source Monitor and then switch to the Text Panel -> Transcript Tab, you will see the transcription of that source clip, or some message about transcribing. If you have no clip open in the Source Monitor, and you select the source monitor view with active monitor off, you will see "no dialogue." If you click in the timeline, it will change the view to the Program Monitor/sequence.

2) The intent of importing a corrected transcript is just to make minor edits in an exported transcript. It is designed to import a .txt file in the same format as the exported .txt transcript.

But you can import an external mass of text, and PR will distribute it to the timecodes it created for its internal transcript. The external text must match the internal closely, or this will not work.

In a text editor, modify the external text to create a single, word-wrapped paragraph with the original lines separated by a period and a single space – no extra lines. The file to be imported does not need to match the format exported by PR. There will be no timecodes, and no speaker information. There is no added space at the beginning or end and only one final return. It does need to be a .txt file.

In PR, in the Transcript tab, import this file as corrected.

The text is divided by the original PR transcript timecodes.

Thanks for your question. Sorry that I have not had time to test this feature. Hopefully someone can chime on. You should be able to do this in 24.0, but if it isn't working, check out the Beta where there are new options. Can you get a test going there? Is it working better for you? Let us know. I'm sure the community will appreciate a response. @Stan Jones, have you tried this yet?
