Question

Text background improperly centered if line ends with a space.

Premiere Pro 23.6.0 Build 65, macOS 12.6.8.

When adding a background to text (specifically a multi-line textbox), if there is a space at the end of a line, the space is include in the character count and used for centering the background. This causes the background to be visually uncentered.

This is a change in behavior that first occured ~2021. Previous versions did not include spaces at the end of a line for adding backgrounds. (I've been making weekly videos for a client since 2017 and have been hoping this would be eventually fixed.) I copy and paste a lot of quotes from various sources into my videos so I deal with this on a weekly basis.

The work around is to go through each line of text and remove the space at the end, which is tedius and time consuming and annoying. While I realize most people may not notice, the people who do notice will judge me (unfairly) for failing to do the simple thing of centering text in a box.

Thank you for your consideration.

@R Tarun,

Here's my last post in the thread where this was discussed:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/text-background-not-centered-on-text-box/m-p/14105226#M476401

I pointed @mrbobdobolina to a feature request based on my view. But his bug report included that this was a change in previous behavior and viewers who observe the problem will see it as an error.
