Text based editing

The text based editing is working and automatically setting the in and out points when I highlight something in the transcript tab. But the problem is when I click delete it doesn't delete. I have to click somewhere on the timeline for it to delete. In all the tutorials I watch it seems as if just clicking delete from the transcript window deletes the linked footage from the timeline. It makes it slightly more tedious having to click on the timeline window and I have a feeling I am missing something very simple.

Use the Lift or Extract buttons in the top of the Transcript tab. The shortcuts (as shown in the menu Sequence->Lift and Sequence->Extract) are semicolon and apostrophe. These also work in the Transcript Tab.

Note that, as expected, Lift (which deletes but does not close the space) obeys track targeting - any track not targeted is not deleted. This includes Captions. Extract deletes and closes whether targeted or not.
