Text based editing creating small gaps in video

I am new to video editing and Premiere Pro. I started using text based editing a few months ago and did not have any issues with it. It seemlessly edited out video that I did not want. Now I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 2024 with text based editing. When I extract text and it edits out the video it creates a small gap between the video. When I try to close the gap under sequence menu, it does not work. 

Any ideas on how to have it extract the video without creating gaps?
