Text based editing with multiple audio tracks?

Not enough info, but let me give you one scenario, and you tell me what you are actually doing.

If A1 is muted, it won't matter whether it is transcribed or not, so let's assume you did not transcribe it.

To use text-based editing, something has to be transcribed, and it must be A2.

So the only Source media transcription is A2, and when you select the Sequence/timeline and look at the transcript, you see that transcription. Since it is in sequence/timeline/Program Monitor view, you will see it with any edits you make.

(I am assuming that in the bottom left of the Text panel/transcript tab, you have the check box selected for "Follow active monitor.")

And I am assuming in the top of that panel you have the {}s active (Automatically set in/out points).

So when you select some of that transcription, you get in/out points set in the timeline.

You can lift/extract from the text panel or the timeline, but I think it all works about the same:

Lift - deletes the content of TARGETED tracks only and does not ripple delete.

Extract - deletes the content of all tracks and ripple deletes.

How does that compare to what you are doing?

Make sure you have sync lock enabled for all the tracks you want to edit.

The recommended way to edit something like this is to first sync all the files together using a multi-camera source sequence. This will ensure all your tracks are in sync, making the editing process smoother.
